Music Video Research Report AOB4
I was given the job to create a music video for Flo Rida Good Feeling. I have looked at his previous videos to check out the conventions of the videos, the type of video Flo Rida likes, and what he wants his audience to like and feel involved. I saw that lots of videos have either a relationship between the lyrics and visuals or the music and visuals. I have looked at the camera work used in this genre of music by other artist such as Labrinth, ive seen that his videos seem to include the same conventions, such as expensive clothing, posh cars, flash women who are wearing minimal clothing. I have found that David Guetta's Sexy Chick video is very similar to the previous Flo Rida videos, girls are included in the videos, mainly wearing minimal clothing, and also the use of swimming pools is frequent throughout the videos. The final part of the research that i did was presenting my moodboard, treatment, and general ideas that i had towards a focus group, just to see what general members of the public would think towards my music video and the elements included. This came in handy as it allowed me too see if the video would appeal to a wide range of audience, and if the video was going to reach potential new audiences. When i looked at Flo Rida's previous videos, i saw that they werent really narrative based, the videos didnt really relate to the lyrics however this didnt deter any new potential customers, i decided to keep this convention as i wanted the video to be similar to previous ones but not too similar.

Analysis of a music video Chase & Status AOB4
Analysis of a Music Video
Artiste: Chase & Status & Track name: Time
How are Genre characteristics used/subverted?
The Genre is electronic and dub step, the characteristics are the use of break beats, and the use of vocals leading up to a huge beat.
What is the relationship between lyrics and visuals?
The lyrics are associated between the visuals; the lyrics match what’s going on in the video when she is singing about her family.
What is the relationship between music and visuals?
When the music starts to dip and go quiet, the visual is the dad hitting the mum, which shows the relationship. The music also quickens when the dad is pushing the mum, it increases and then the mum falls down the stairs just as it slows down.
Are there close-ups of the artist and star image motifs?
Yes, close ups of all the family, especially the daughter; you never see the producer’s chase and status in the music videos, which relates to their other music videos.
Is there reference to the notion of looking? Where?
Are there intertextual references?
Is it performance-based, narrative-based or concept-based? How much of each?
The video is narrative-based, it’s about a girl whose dad is an alcoholic and beats her mother, she sings about her helplessness, and so the video is narrative based as chase and status are getting a point across about domestic abuse and alcoholism.

CD Packaging Proposal for a Ministry of Sound album.
The purpose of the Ministry of Sound album I am designing is to draw buyers in with a bright bold album cover, sleek design, and make them think ‘’this looks great’’ and so they purchase the album. The album cover includes the famous ministry of sound logo, and the colours match the TV advert, so people can recognise it easier.
The design I am planning is a plastic case, both front and back, with an inside booklet, and track listing on the back cover. As you open the plastic CD cover, you will find a disc with the all the music content on, the disc contains the exact same style as the front cover, so it distinguishes what album is, and is easier to match which CD case it came from if lost. The back cover of the album includes the songs included on the Disc, and again includes the ministry of sound logo, and also a barcode and song producer’s logo to enhance the quality of the CD, and packaging content.
The CD packaging ill be producing will be aimed at a target audience who like any type of up beat dance music, and any sort of dance fan, mainly ages from 15+ as some music may not be suitable for them, also the songs are used on a variety of reality shows and teenage TV programmes, so they can relate to this music more.
Kind Regards
George Dillon (Managing Director)
